Welcome to our latest Meet the Team Monday! Today, meet Carolina, another CLC team member.
“I have always wanted to make a difference and help people”
- Why did you choose Family Law?
In Law School, I specialized in Human Rights and Children’s Rights. I have always wanted to make a difference and help people in need during difficult times of their lives. The more I learned and volunteered, the more I knew that I wanted to work in Family Law.
“Working there is inspiring”
2. Why choose the Children’s Law Center?
I love the whole team, and the work environment. Most of all, I love how well we work together, we are always helping each other. Everyone shares a strong devotion to making a positive impact on our clients. Working there is inspiring; there’s always great energy in the office.
“I love to spend time with family and friends”
3. Hobbies and Interests?
I enjoy running, hiking, swimming, yoga and strength training. I feel lucky living in Hawaii, there is always something exciting to do. I started playing soccer when I was five years old, which was a big part of my life for many years. When living in Sweden, we were skiing a lot.
I love to spend time with family and friends.
“Spending time in nature when I can is important”
4. How do you maintain or create work-life balance?
Being balanced is about making time for what needs to get done without losing track of the things you need to keep you happy and healthy. I make time for my health and my family and friends.
I prioritize both and think about what needs more attention in that particular day or week. Spending time in nature when I can is important. Yoga helps to keep me centered. I also have an amazing fiancé who supports me and helps to keep me balanced.
“To keep growing and setting new goals“
5. What are your goals for the firm and in general?
I want to keep learning as much as possible about Family Law, and be a great support for children and families during difficult times. To keep empowering our clients to find their strength and help them through hardships to better days.
Personally, the most important thing is to keep living a life that brings me happiness. To keep growing and setting new goals.
6. Fun fact about you?
I love to experiment in the kitchen and create my own recipes. Learning every day!
7. Favorite Saying?
“Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars”
“I am grateful to be able to work from home”
8. How are you staying positive during Shelter-in-Place orders?
Knowing we’re all in this together keeps me positive. I am grateful to be able to work from home. It definitely helps to call my family and friends as much as I can. I’m trying to focus on the positive things right now and be grateful for the simple things I have. I’m enjoying spending more time with my fiancé.
The circumstances are challenging at times but I try to remind myself that everything is temporary. It’s best to take this time as an opportunity to learn the lessons this moment in history has to teach us. This is not an easy time for most people, so it’s important that we all come together and support each other through this.
